The digital age has brought many changes, including the way we consume content. Previously, audiovisual formats were expensive to produce and we consumed them through only one medium: television.

Now, with the internet and its abundance of apps and platforms that utilize these formats, the market and demand have grown to such an extent that this type of content is the favorite of most internet users. This is not only due to its popularity but also because of its practicality and ease of consumption.
With that said, we want to share six fundamental things you should keep in mind when creating audiovisual content and what it should include.
1. Having a focus
In this case, it's about knowing what type and style of content it is. When we have this clear, the result of our audiovisual piece will improve. If you're still not clear on this, it's important to look for inspiration, or if there are already some established parameters, to know how to execute them correctly. Some places where you can find inspiration and guidance include YouTube, Vimeo's StaffPick, movies, music videos, advertising, and more.

2.That it fulfills a narrative and objectives
It is essential that this content has some kind of narrative, which means a timeline to develop a message or an idea. In this case, for the internet, it no longer has to be linear, but you can play with different timelessness, achieving a certain type of narrative disruption, which captivates the viewer and obtains better results.
3.Quality material
These elements are vital; the images, sound, and music must all be in accordance with what you want to convey, not to mention the colors and all the other elements that make up the production and post-production of an audiovisual piece. For this, you can find suitable equipment and technology at good prices thanks to the internet. On the other hand, if you don't have enough to acquire these types of elements or the time to produce them, a good alternative is to use audiovisual resource platforms and banks, which you can also access at a good price.

4.Comply with the basic elements of audiovisual language
This seems obvious, but it is often not applied correctly. Elements such as composition, shots, transitions, depth of field, continuity, lighting, sound, and script must fit together perfectly to deliver the correct message to the viewer, which leads us to the following.
5.Empathy for the receiver
Putting yourself in the shoes of the person who will see the piece is the best way to know if your audiovisual will work and what might go wrong; understanding the perspective of the receiver will facilitate many things during the production and post-production process.
6.Tendencies
In such a rapidly changing world, trends are important because they help us understand what's happening right now, making our audiovisual work more relevant and understandable for the audience, as well as providing inspiration and ideas that can improve it. However, you don't have to adhere strictly to a trend, but you can certainly incorporate the best elements to enhance your piece.

Finally, remember that the audiovisual process is fundamental in each of its phases and it is valuable to know about all of them to achieve excellent results.
