At The Dot Studio, we investigated the core of this phenomenon, which several brands have already leveraged to generate engagement with their communities, and we drew our conclusions so that you can apply it to your business's social media.

  • Remember the power of a sense of belonging: Social media was created to bring together people with shared interests. The EGG GANG case is no exception, since, while their interest isn't exactly the properties of an egg, it is about being part of the group of people who, with their "double tap," helped make this image the one with the most likes in history.

And this is where the "lucky" part for this account begins, since it's very likely that an influential person discovered the post and shared it in their stories, thus starting a snowball effect that helped achieve the result..
  • It's time to recognize the power of social media: Because it doesn't matter if it was a social experiment or someone's joke. What matters is that EGG GANG is seizing the opportunity to capitalize on its viral success by selling egg-themed merchandise, and the best part is, they're doing it without paying for social media ads, newspapers, or influencers. Which, to us, is genius.
